our mission

Our mission is to build relationships with families in the developing world and to liberate them from the bondage of extreme poverty by providing children access to quality education and by giving adults employment through microfinance and creating social businesses.

Our name, Uhuru, is Swahili for freedom, and that is our goal: to bring freedom to children who are growing up in the bondage of poverty. At Uhuru Child, we strive to use tools such as education and social businesses to bring hope, purpose, stability, opportunity to children living in third-world countries.

We endeavor, through the concert of a united grassroots movement, to join creatively with college students, businesses, churches and high schools, in order to develop solutions that will catalyst long-term positive change for children and families in need.

our mission

who we are

who we are

We are catalysts. We are the heart-connected. We are college students, businessmen, entrepreneurs, creative thinkers, musicians and humanitarians. We are ordinary people with an extraordinary passion to use our time, unique abilities and gifts as we work for change in the lives of children in need.

We believe that change comes from investing in the lives of hurting people. Lives are altered when we stop watching from the sidelines and step into brokenness. For that reason, we are individuals who walk beside poverty-devastated children and families in order to learn their names, hear their dreams and meet their needs.
